Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Real View, the operator of StreamingCams (“we”, “us”), collects and uses personal information in connection with the StreamingCams camera and its control panel. For privacy matters you can reach us at privacy@real-view.tv.
Who we are
StreamingCams is a product operated by Real View. For the personal data we handle about our customers and waitlist enquirers, Real View is the data controller. Where the camera captures a public-facing view you have chosen to stream, the position is explained under “Camera footage” below.
Information we collect
- Waitlist and enquiry details — when you join the waitlist or contact us we collect your email address, and any name or message you choose to give.
- Account and order details — if you buy a camera, the contact and delivery information needed to fulfil your order, and the details needed to run your control-panel account.
- Camera images and footage — the live video the camera streams, which is intended to show a view you have chosen to broadcast publicly. The camera has no microphone and captures no audio.
- Technical and usage data — information about how you use the control panel and website, such as device, browser and log data.
- Communications — messages you send us, including through live chat.
How we use your information
- to add you to the waitlist and let you know when the camera is available;
- to take and fulfil your order and provide the control panel and streaming service;
- to publish your live stream to the channel you connect (such as your YouTube channel), and, only if you switch it on, to Real View;
- to operate, secure and improve the platform;
- to communicate with you about your order and account; and
- to comply with our legal obligations.
Depending on the purpose, we rely on one or more lawful bases: performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and improving the product, your consent (for example to join the waitlist or receive optional updates), and compliance with legal obligations.
Camera footage
StreamingCams is intended to capture a view you choose to stream publicly — a coastline, a street, a landscape, a yard. You choose where the camera points and which channel it streams to. The camera has no microphone, so no audio is ever recorded. Where a camera could capture identifiable individuals, you decide why and how that footage is used and you are the data controller for it; you are responsible for positioning the camera appropriately, for displaying any signage required, for informing people where necessary, and for ensuring there is a lawful basis for capturing and publishing the view. Please avoid pointing the camera at areas where people have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
Cookies, analytics and live chat
Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, understand how it is used, and remember your preferences. Our live chat is provided by a third-party tool, which may set its own cookies to run the chat. You can control cookies through your browser, though some features may not work properly without them.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
- Service providers who help us operate the product — for example cloud hosting and content-delivery providers, video platforms such as YouTube where you connect a channel, live chat, email and payment providers — who act on our instructions;
- Authorities or advisers where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal rights; and
- A successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision) to protect your information.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist and enquiry details are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Your live stream is delivered to the channel you connect (such as YouTube); recordings and archives on that platform are governed by that platform’s terms and settings.
- Account and order records are kept for as long as you are a customer and for any period we are required to keep them by law.
Your rights
Subject to certain conditions, you have the right to access a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these, email privacy@real-view.tv. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we’d appreciate the chance to help first.
Data security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The product is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the “Last updated” date above.
